Kohistan Corruption Case: NAB recovers another Rs 200 million
RAWALPINDI: Another major breakthrough has come to light in the Rs 40 billion mega corruption case in Kohistan. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered another Rs 200 million from the house of mastermind Qaiser Iqbal during the operation.
According to sources, Rs 100 million each was recovered in two separate operations. Earlier, NAB also found Rs 1.6 billion from his house.
The money was hidden in paint cans, which was pointed out by Qaiser Iqbal’s arrested wife.
According to NAB, Qaiser Iqbal was posted as a clerk and later as head clerk in the C&W Department Upper Kohistan since August 2013.
During his employment, he allegedly played a central role in withdrawing money from the government treasury by preparing fake documents.
Sources say that billions of rupees were transferred to the accounts of Qaiser Iqbal’s wife and a contractor, Mumtaz, while allegations have also emerged that several influential figures benefited from the scandal.
